How to Employ an Apprentice

Step 1: Site Visit

​

We will visit your organisation to find out more about you, your requirements and the role you are looking to fill. We will cover funding options, relevant qualifications, assessment methods and answer any questions you have.

​

 

Step 2: Job Description

 

Provide us with a job description for the role you are looking to fill, this role must be at least 30 hours per week with an hourly rate of £6.40 or above. 

​

 

Step 3: Advertise and Shortlist

​

We will advertise your vacancy, telephone interview and shortlist candidates on your behalf at no extra cost. 

​

 

Step 4: Interview

​

Decide who you would like to invite for interview from the short list. We will contact the candidates and make arrangements on your behalf. We can also support you with the arrangements of 2nd interviews and trials. 

​

 

Step 5: Offer / Agree Start Date

 

When you have found your Apprentice; we contact them to make the formal offer and agree a start date to suit all parties. We recommend following your standard recruitment / induction procedures from this point, this may include a formal offer letter.

 

 

Step 6: Apprentice's First Day to Completion

​

When the Apprentice commences employment an AGL Assessor is allocated to them, the Assessor will contact you to arrange to attend to sign up the Apprentice onto their qualifications. The Assessor will then visit every 4-6weeks to work through the qualifications with the Apprentice.

 

Our Assessor will also support you, as an employer of an Apprentice and provide you with regular updates on the Apprentice’s progress. 

 

Our Apprenticeship programmes run over 12-30months, depending on the qualification and level being taken. At the end of the programme most employers we work with then offer the Apprentice a full-time position within the business.
