Established in 1979, our client is an independent, second-generation family owned and operated company which offers a strong commitment and continuous passion for what they do. For over 35 years their engineers have been designing and manufacturing single and three phase transformer products for customers in the UK, Europe and Worldwide, having a well established reputation as one of the UK’s leading specialists they have fulfilled many contracts for companies such as Alstom, Tata, Corus, Mitsubishi, Siemens and Toyota.

The position is for an Apprenticeship, the position is initially 15 months with the possibility of a full-time role at the end of the programme.

During this time, you will work towards the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Operative Apprenticeship Standards

  • EAL L2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills)

  • English and Maths Functional Skills Level 1 / 2

 

General Duties

You will receive training to enable you to carry out the following duties:

  • Read and interpret work orders to determine materials needed and assembly instructions.

  • Position, align, or adjust work components/Electrical Steel to facilitate assembly.

  • Assemble coils with electrical steel, installing components, subassemblies using bolts and insulation material.

  • Confer with Supervisors to plan or review work activities and resolve production issues.

  • Drill or tap holes in specified components, working from a drawing.

  • Form parts using drills, cutters, or saws.

Skills and Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold basic numeracy / literacy skills.

  • Be able to follow instruction.

  • Ability to work as part of a team.

  • Be dexterous.

  • Requires repetitive light, medium and occasional heavy lifting.

  • Adaptable and flexible with a good attention to detail.

  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining a strict attention to detail, to meet deadlines.

  • Conscientious, organised, methodical and enthusiastic.

 

Working Hours

Monday – Thursday 7am – 4pm (2 x 15min breaks and 1 x 30min break daily)

Friday – 7am – 1pm (30min break)

Total hours paid: 38.5

Hourly Rate: £7.50
