Operations Manager Apprenticeship Level 5

​

The Operations Manager apprenticeship has been developed to support learners in a operation or departmental management role (accountable to a senior leader or business owner) and provides a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours. Your core responsibility is to manage teams and projects, achieving operational or departmental goals and objectives, as part of the delivery of the organisation’s strategy.

 

Typical duration to gateway: 12-24months

 

To achieve the Operations Manager L5 Apprenticeship Standard each learner must:

 

  • Compile a portfolio of evidence.

  • Work closely with their Assessor/Tutor who will provide guidance and support in meeting the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out by the standard.

  • Complete a minimum of 20% off-the-job training hours (OTJ).

  • Hold, or achieve with AGL Training, a Level 2 in English and mathematics before sitting their End Point Assessment.

  • Pass End Point Assessment.

 

Knowledge, skills and behaviours (KSBs) assessed are:

 

  • Managing and leading a team

  • Organisational governance

  • Operational planning

  • Stakeholder relationships

  • Project scope and planning

  • Project implementation

  • Evaluation and recommendations

End Point Assessment (EPA)

​

End Point Assessment is carried out by an external organisation (EPAO) and is made up of the following:

​

 

1.Project Presentation and Q&As - 4,000 word project based on a piece of work with a real business benefit, 20minute presentation and 40minute Q&As.

2.Professional Discussion - 60minute professional discussed underpinned by a portfolio of evidence.

Professional Recognition:

On completion of the apprenticeship, apprentices can register as members with the Chartered Management Institute and/or the Institute of Leadership & Management, and those with 3 years’ management experience can apply for chartered manager status through the CMI.

​

​

Apprentices’ 1st attempt at EPA are covered by the course funding, however, in the event of an Apprentice failing, their EPA re-sit / re-take costs will fall to the employer.
