AGL Training Ltd are looking to recruit an Apprentice Medallist on behalf of our well-established client based in Bromsgrove B61 8LL.

Our client is the official supplier to the UK MoD Medal Office. They specialise in the manufacture and supply of full size and miniature medals and medal mounting. Granted a Royal Warrant as Medallists to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II since 2008 and our client is a supplier of insignia to many Governments around the world.

The successful candidate will be willing to learn and be guided through their mounting procedures as they gain an understanding of what is required within the company to complete orders to a high standard. Duties would primarily include medal mounting, framing, sashes and collars, general customer service, administrative work including over the phone and counter.

The position is for an Apprenticeship, the position is initially 12-18 months with the possibility of a full-time role at the end of the programme.


During this time, you will work towards the following qualifications:

  • Lean Manufacturing Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standards

  • EAL L2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills)

  • English and Maths Functional Skills Level 1/ 2



General Duties

You will receive training to enable you to carry out the following duties:

  • Working on machinery

  • Sewing

  • Read and act on order forms

  • Meet customers’ requirements for their specifications when medal mounting

  • Filling order requests ready for mounting.

  • Cleaning medals

  • Cutting ribbons

  • Liaising with customers via the telephone

  • General administrative duties

  • Health and Safety

  • General housekeeping

Skills and Requirements

The ideal candidate will be:

  • GCSE Grade 4 or above in English and Maths (Grade C)

  • Ambitious and willing to learn

  • Confident

  • Polite and friendly

  • Good knowledge of ICT / Microsoft Office Package

  • Basic sewing skills/ knowledge

  • Keen eye for detail

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines



Working Hours

Monday – Friday: 8:30am – 17:00pm with 1 hour for lunch.

Total hours paid: 37.5

Hourly Rate: minimum wage for age:

16-18: £4.62ph

18-20: £6.56ph

21-22: £8.36ph

23+: £8.91ph
