AGL Training Ltd are looking to recruit an Apprentice Medal Engraver on behalf of our well-established client based in Bromsgrove, B60 3EX.

Our client is the official supplier to the UK MoD Medal Office. They specialise in the manufacture and supply of full size and miniature medals and medal mounting. Granted a Royal Warrant as Medallists to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II since 2008 and our client is a supplier of insignia to many Governments around the world.

Our client is looking for a hardworking and reliable individual to join a busy team that undertakes engraving in many types and forms including 3d modelling and engraving of production dies and tools. There are many opportunities for growth in a wide range of skills exist within the area.


The position is for an Apprenticeship, the position is initially 15-18 months with the strong possibility of a full-time role at the end of the programme.

During this time, you will work towards the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Lean Manufacturing Apprenticeship Standards

  • Level 2 Manufacturing (knowledge and skills)

  • English and Maths Functional Skills Level 1/ Level 2


General Duties

You will receive training to enable you to carry out the following duties:

  • Prepare materials ready for the manufacturing process.

  • Set up and operate the engraving machinery.

  • Engrave medals and flat plates.

  • Produce products through assembly.

  • Check completed product is to the require standard.

  • Polishing of dies using the polishing machinery.

  • Complete documentation relevant to the manufacturing process.

  • Health, safety and general housekeeping.


As you become comfortable within the role you will also be given the opportunity to learn other areas of the business such as; 3D modeling, laser engraving and CAD.


Skills and Requirements

  • GCSE’s in English and Maths’s grade 4 (c) or above.

  • Hardworking.

  • Reliable.

  • A willingness to learn and try new ways of working.

  • Punctual - good timekeeping is essential.

  • Polite and friendly.

  • Aptitude for problem-solving.

  • Acute attention to detail.

  • Works well independently and as part of a team.


Working Hours

Monday – Friday: 7:30 am- 4:00 pm with 1 hour lunch,

Total hours paid: 37.5

Hourly Rate: £6.45
