Apprentice Lab / Chemical Technician

AGL Training Ltd are looking to recruit an Apprentice Lab / Chemical Technician on behalf our well-established client based in Bishops Castle.

Our client was founded in 1984 and is the inventor of Jesmonite; as well as being the manufacturer they also specialise in the application and use of the product. They work with a range of clients from architects, designers, sculptors and specifiers to manufacturers and contractors. Jesmonite is the ultimate chameleon material of the building industry – it can be used to replicate the appearance and texture of any surface finish in any number of colours.

The position will involve working in the company’s newly built Research and Development facilities and will be working closely with the Technical Manager in the factory manufacturing the cement-based powder material and acrylic modified resin mixtures. Jesmonite is a world recognised brand that prides itself on continuously developing initiative products and solutions for the Architectural and Creative Arts markets across the globe.

The position is for an Apprenticeship, initially 12 months with the strong possibility of a full-time role at the end of the programme.

During this time, you will work towards the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Performing Manufacturing Operations

  • Level 2 Industrial Environmental Awareness

  • Level 2 Employment Rights and Responsibilities

  • English and Maths Functional Skills Level 1/2

General Duties

You will receive training to enable you to carry out the following duties:

  • Working with cement and acrylic resin mixtures,

  • Making casts for trial samples and measuring mainly its physical properties (density, hardness, compressive strength, shrinkage etc.),

  • Helping with developing new materials, as well as updating existing ones,

  • Doing simple calculations in Excel,

  • Reporting directly to Technical Manager,

  • Health and Safety

  • Housekeeping

 

Skills and Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold A Levels in Chemistry and Maths

  • Be ambitious and willing to learn

  • Good knowledge of ICT / Microsoft Office Package

  • Experience in a similar role would be beneficial but not essential

 

Working Hours

Monday – Friday: 8:30am – 4:30pm

Total hours paid: 37.5 hours weekly.

Under 18 - £4.60ph 18-20 – £6.40ph 21-24 - £7.95 25+ - £8.46

Apprentice Production Team Member

AGL Training Ltd are looking to recruit a Performing Manufacturing Operations Apprentice on behalf of our well-established client based on Queensway Business Park, Telford.

Our client is offering a great opportunity for an apprentice to join the team in a fast-growing food company.

The position is for an Apprenticeship, the position is initially 12 months with the possibility of a full-time role at the end of the programme.

During this time, you will work towards the following qualifications:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Performing Manufacturing Operations

  • Level 2 Industrial Environmental Awareness

  • Level 2 Employment Rights and Responsibilities

  • English and Maths Functional Skills Level 1/2

 

General Duties

You will receive training to enable you to carry out the following duties:

  • Bottling of Products

  • Operating Manufacturing Machinery

  • Manufacturing of Food Products.

  • Inspecting and Confirming Quality of Goods.

  • Line Work

  • Picking & Packing

  • Dispatching

  • Storage

  • Stock Control

  • Goods Outward Process

  • Maintaining a High Hygiene Standard.

Working Hours

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm (37.5 hours per week)
