Workplace Trainer and Assessor

£25,000-£30,000pa depending on experience.


We are looking to expand our team! 

We are looking for Assessors who can provider training and assessment in either Lean Manufacturing Operative / Logistics and/or Leadership and Management. 


The successful candidate will have a caseload of 30-40 learners based within Telford and the Midlands.

Assessor Job Description

  • Visiting learners in the workplace and assessing them as part of their Apprenticeship programme to ensure the successful outcome for the programme in line with contractual requirements and targets.

  • Prepare, agree and review assessment plans with each candidate.

  • Create learner portfolios to agreed target standards and ensure they are submitted on time; using Onefile.

  • Manage and maintain learner folders in line with audit requirements.

  • Visit candidates at least once per month within the workplace to provide support, prepare action plans, undertake assessments and provide feedback on performance.

  • Efficient and effective operation of the assessment process in line with AGL Training Ltd policy relating to quality and the requirements of the awarding body representatives.

  • Carry out progress reviews every 10 – 12 weeks with apprentices ensuring all parties involvement (Assessor, Learner and Employer).

  • Deliver relevant functional skills programmes and training; necessary to the Apprentices' programmes.

  • Assist with development of the provision to ensure the programme is up to date.

  • Liaise with the learner and employer to ensure that the learners’ needs are met throughout the programme.

  • Promote apprenticeships and AGL Training Ltd courses to employers including encouragement of progression routes. Maintain knowledge of funding streams and eligibility criteria.

  • Undertake Health and Safety checks for learners on programme.

  • Ensure the full embedding of all Equal Opportunities policies and Health & Safety requirements are complied with and all candidates are given fair access to training and assessment of these.

  • To take responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students with whom you come into contact.

  • Promote Prevent Strategy and British Values to all students and employers.

  • Maintain annual record of CPD, minimum 52 hours.

  • Participate in and support the annual self assessment process (SAR).

  • Attend and participate in meetings with AGL Training Directors, as required.

  • Represent AGL Training Ltd at relevant events and generally supporting the marketing strategy.

  • Additional duties appropriate to the post as directed by AGL Training Ltd Directors.

  • Carry out all duties involved within the Internal Quality Assurance element of apprenticeships, such as; IQA Sampling, formative / summative sampling, assessor observations, learner interviews, standardisation etc.


Skills and Experience

  • Vocational competency in training and assessment for all or most of the identified areas.

  • Experience and ability in delivering functional skills.

  • Level 2 qualification (GCSE A* - C, or equivalent) in Maths and English.

  • Hold an Assessor qualification (A1 or equivalent).

  • A verifiers qualification would be desirable (V1 or equivalent)

  • Ability to deliver full Apprenticeship programmes.

  • A full driving license.

  • Experience using an electronic portfolio system (ideally Onefile)


Working Hours:

Monday - Thursday : 8.15am - 4.45pm

Friday: 8.15am - 12.45pm

36.5 hours weekly
