AGL Training Ltd are looking to recruit an Administration Apprentice on behalf our client based in Shrewsbury.

Our client is a well-established recruitment agency based in Shrewsbury, staffed by a leading team of highly trained and qualified industrial recruitment consultants and commercial recruitment experts.

From their head office, they specialise in the placement of temporary, temporary to permanent and permanent roles, across a broad range of sectors, and operate across Shropshire, Staffordshire and the West Midlands.

The Administration Apprentice will provide administrative support to the team.

The position is for an Apprenticeship, the position is initially 12-18 months with the possibility of a full-time role at the end of the programme, our clients current head of sales started as an apprentice.

During this time, you will work towards the following qualifications:

  • Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship Standards

  • Highfield L3 Diploma in Business Administration Skills

  • Functional Skills English and Mathematics Level 2

General Duties

You will receive training to enable you to carry out the following duties:

  • To provide a full administrative service to the office of DM Recruitment, controlling all administration procedures, working closely with the Branch Manager and Service Coordinator to ensure all administration tasks are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Liaise with candidates from indeed

  • Liaise with the service team

  • Ensure all paperwork is in order for candidates’ portfolio’s

  • To meet and greet all interviewees and visitors to DM Recruitment

  • To act as main point of contact for all telephone inquiries, ensuring they are dealt with professionally and efficiently

  • To set up temporary workers for interview, preparing and auditing interview packs and uploading all interviewee details to the server

  • To source and send temporary worker references

  • To be first port of call for telephone responses to advertisements placed

  • To send new starter information to CIS payroll service provider

  • To maintain office filing systems, archiving interview packs as required

  • To control office stock and stationery orders

  • To establish and maintain strong relationships with candidates and DM Recruitment employees

  • To undertake any other duties as required to assist in the day to day running of DM Recruitment

  • To act as an ambassador for DM Recruitment and ensure compliance with the company’s ethical approach in all interactions with clients, colleagues and all other key stakeholders

  • Right to work compliance checks

Skills and Requirements

The ideal candidate will be keen to learn, able to adapt to a busy office environment and be able to work positively and cooperatively with their existing team. Our client is a busy and fast paced environment so the ideal candidate will be a quick learner and able to take initiative as required, as well as hardworking and adaptable.

They will be looking for candidates who have/are able to:

  • GCSE grade 9-4 in Maths and English (or equivalent)

  • Good time management

  • Good IT skills

  • Good numerical skills

  • Good spelling and grammar

  • Able to multitask and prioritise

  • Attention to detail

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Good organisational skills

  • Able to work independently but seek guidance when required

  • Work as part of a team

  • Keen eye for detail


Working Hours

Monday – Friday: 9am – 5pm (These hours may vary at the entire discretion of our client)

Total hours paid: 35 hours per week (30-minute unpaid break at a time convenient to the company and a further 30 minutes paid break to be taken between 10am to 10:15am and 3pm to 3:15pm daily).

Hourly Rate: £5
