AGL Training Ltd are looking to recruit a Production Department Apprentice on behalf our well-established client based in Kidderminster.

Our client is a self-adhesive label manufacturer; they have flexographic printing presses along with one of the latest digital printing presses and ancillary finishing equipment. Our client is a family run business, although between their key staff they have in total over 80 years’ experience in the labelling industry. 

The position is for an Apprenticeship, the position is initially 12-15 months with the possibility of a full-time role at the end of the programme.

During this time, you will work towards the following qualifications:

  • Lean Manufacturing Operative Apprentice Standards L2

  • EAL Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills) L2

  • English and Maths Functional Skills Level 1 / 2

General Duties
 

You will receive training to enable you to carry out the following duties:

  • Finishing duties, such as rewinding reels from larger to smaller ones, collating sheets, quality checking goods, hand fan-folding goods.

  • Use of cutting equipment.

  • Operating printing and finishing equipment.

  • Obtaining, moving, and handling raw materials.

  • Keep a well-maintained storage area.

  • Packing and despatching finished products.

  • General housekeeping; keeping premises, production/ storage areas and equipment clean, tidy, and free from waste material, disposing of waste appropriately at the end of each day.

  • Apprentices will support a strict cleaning rota which adheres to the rigorous standards of BRCGS (Brand Reputation Compliance Global Standards).

  • Manual handling of weights up to 20kg and the use of manual handling equipment.

  • Health and Safety at work regulations.

Skills and Requirements

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Qualified to GCSE level; Grade 4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent)

  • Not colour blind due to working in print production.

  • Sensible in their approach; due to working with machinery and sharps.

  • Punctual.

  • Reliable.

  • Promote a can-do attitude, with a willingness to learn and develop.

Working Hours

Monday – Thursday: 8.30/8.45am – 4.30/4.45pm (30mins unpaid lunch)             

Total hours paid: 37.5 hours

Holiday Entitlement: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays.

Hourly Rate: £5.30
