AGL Training Ltd are looking to recruit an Apprentice Manufacturing Operative on behalf our well-established client based in Bishops Castle.

Our client was founded in 1984 and is the inventor of Jesmonite; as well as being the manufacturer they also specialise in the application and use of the product. They work with a range of clients from architects, designers, sculptors and specifiers to manufacturers and contractors. Jesmonite is the ultimate chameleon material of the building industry – it can be used to replicate the appearance and texture of any surface finish in any number of colours.

The position is for an Apprenticeship, initially 12-15 months with the strong possibility of a full-time role at the end of the programme.

During this time, you will work towards the following qualifications:

  • Lean Manufacturing Operative Level 2 Apprenticeship Standards

  • EAL L2 Diploma in Manufacturing (knowledge and skills)

  • English and Maths Functional Skills Level ½

 

General Duties

You will receive training to enable you to carry out the following duties:

  • Measuring and classifying all raw materials in preparation for production

  • Monitoring the production process

  • Feeding the raw materials into the machinery

  • Operating the production machinery as required, such as lifting equipment and forklift trucks

  • Performing quality assurance and testing checks

  • Assembling, packing, and labelling the finished goods in preparation for shipment

  • Cleaning the machinery and other parts of the production space

  • Maintaining an inventory of the goods and raw materials in the factory or warehouse

  • Noting machine faults and reporting to maintenance officers as required

  • Maintaining work areas and equipment

 

Skills and Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a GSCE Grade 3 or above (or an equivalent).

  • Be hardworking and willing to learn.

  • Be able to follow instruction.

  • Be able to commute to Bishops Castle daily.

  • A forklift licence would be advantageous but not essential as training will be given.

 

Working Hours:

Monday – Friday: 8am – 4.30pm

Total hours paid: 37.5 hours weekly.

Pay:

Starting hourly rate: £9ph (negotiable depending on experience)
